African engineers and researchers, among others, have been trained on energy modelling tools to build efficient energy systems across the continent. The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), with the University of Namibia, facilitated the training of 71 national experts. The training brought together the energy planning and modelling community in Africa to share experiences, models, and data in climate, land, energy, and water systems. “The trained professionals are expected to use the modelling tools for long-term energy planning and optimised investments in their respective countries,” said ECA’s Mekalia Paulos.
