Nine people died on Saturday afternoon after a trailer rammed into the matatu they were travelling in the Mai Mahiu area, Naivasha, Nakuru county. Naivasha OCPD Stephen Kirui confirmed the accident with reports indicating that the victims were possibly heading for a family function. According to a police report, the accident occurred at noon in the VIP area along Mai Mahiu -Nairobi road. It said the trailer was from Nairobi heading towards Mai Mahiu direction and on reaching the location of the accident, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the rear of the matatu. A trailer which was parked off the road and another car were also hitPolice said five female and three male adults and a girl died on the spot.
