Apparently, intelligence services in Sri Lanka were forewarned of the possibility of such an attack, but preventive measures were not put in place to stop or at least minimise the extent of the carnage. This reflects poorly on the relevant agencies in Sri Lanka and those concerned definitely have a lot of explaining to do. The problem lies within the political spectrum of Sri Lanka, and for that matter in all societies that are multiracial and multireligious, including ours. Politicians both here and in Sri Lanka are still exploiting race and religion in the quest for power and position. Malaysians have to take the tragedy in Sri Lanka seriously and be vigilant at all times to prevent such a monstrous incident from happening here.
