While at New Hall, Kirsty told staff that she would usually spend around £80 per day on heroin and that she also used diazepam. While in prison she tested positive for a number of drugs including cocaine, crack cocaine and opiates. The Ombudsman concluded that Kirsty's community offender manager had made adequate preparations for her release from prison. "Prison staff made appropriate referrals to the community drug and alcohol service to ensure Ms Foster received continued support once released.
