According to a statement issued by the GNFS, the incident occurred on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The child, identified as Sarah Ahiafor, accompanied other children to wash clothes at a pond-like water body at Sonitra, a suburb of Kpetoe. Tragedy as farmer drowns while seeking loan to send child to SHSThe GNFS said the child’s body was later retrieved from the water; however, all attempts to resuscitate her proved unsuccessful. The body was subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service at the scene for preservation and further investigations.
