A 12-year-old boy who won sympathy and hearts around the world for his brave fight against cancer has died from the illness, seven years after his father passed away due to melanoma. Christchurch boy Lachie Sutherland died peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by his mother Kelly Sharpe and family, Stuff reported. In March of this year $49,000 had been raised through an online fundraising site to help Lachie with his brave battle. Lachie, the boy with an infectious smile, was such a fighter,' a third person added. Tragically his father Chris Sutherland was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in 2013 and died just six weeks later.
