Trafficking attempt to Malaysia: 84 rescued from Teknaf, 3 detained


The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have rescued 84 people, including women and children, who were gathered together deep in the hills of Teknaf Upazila in Cox's Bazar for trafficking to Malaysia. Three members of the trafficking ring were arrested in the operation and their weapons were seized. The BGB said an international human trafficking ring working in Bangladesh, Myanmar and Malaysia is operating under the protection of some influential locals. 62 TRAFFICKERS ARRESTED IN EIGHT MONTHSSo far this year, the BGB has arrested 62 people suspected of being involved in human trafficking from the Teknaf border area. Two days before that, on Sept 16, the BGB rescued 11 another people, including women and children.
