Alemu said the police has determined the cause of the accident to be reckless driving by drivers of both vehicles. The driver of the passenger minibus was killed in the traffic accident, while police are on the manhunt for the driver of the passenger bus who fled the scene soon after the traffic accident. Alemu called on drivers to respect traffic rules and regulations in order to avoid traffic accidents that cause human and material damages. Despite having one of the lowest per capita car ownerships in the world, deadly traffic accidents in Ethiopia are common, with blames put on bad roads, a flawed driving license issuance system and lax enforcement of safety rules.
