SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan, Philippines — A businessman was gunned down while his wife was wounded by robbers in Barangay Balayong in this city on Monday, police said. Melchor Caoile, 42, a resident of Barangay San Pedro, was driving his motorcycle with his wife Jacqueline, 44, when four men on two other motorbikes blocked their path. Caoile was shot when he tried to stop the suspects from taking their money worth P200,000, according to a police report. Jacqueline remained confined at the Pangasinan Doctors Hospital yesterday.
