Joseph Ngige Wainaina, a Murang’a-based trader and Adeline Shitawa Murunga, a court assistant attached to Lady Justice Roseline Aburili, were convicted by chief magistrate Ledicia Wachira at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi. Wainaina was found guilty of offering a bribe of Sh50,000 to Murunga to influence the outcome of a case pending before Justice Aburili of the Judicial Review and Human Rights Division. Murunga was found guilty of receiving the bribe from Wainaina of Sh50,000 to influence the outcome of the pending case number JR/451/408/2016. The magistrate heard Wainaina is a sickly man and that a custodial sentence would worsen his health.
