The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued a press release on the occasion of the “world intellectual property day”, which is celebrated on 26th April every year. CAPMAS added that 124 patents were granted according to the international classification in the field of chemistry and metals, accounting for 27.6 % of the total patents in 2016. Human needs followed with 88 patents, accounting for 19.6% of all patents, including 25% for Egyptians and 75 % for foreigner. United States nationals were ranked first in terms of the number of patents granted from Egyptian patent offices. In third came Japanese nationals with 43 patents and 9.6% of the total patents granted in 2016.
