Cairo – January 15, 2024: Egypt’s cement industry’s annual output of 92 million tons has enabled the country to be ranked among the top 10 cement producers globally, providing essential support for the country's industrial landscape, according to Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir. Samir also emphasized the pivotal role of Egypt's cement sector as a pillar for the nation's infrastructure and urban development projects, as well as the industrial sector’s role as a key player in Egypt's recovery, addressing global and regional economic challenges. Samir stressed the importance of continued efforts to navigate opportunities and challenges in achieving sustainable development within Egypt's industrial sector, particularly in cement production. He emphasized the government's commitment to incentivizing local and regional manufacturers, fostering a conducive industrial environment, and promoting the pivotal role of the private sector. Egypt's cement exports witnessed substantial growth during the first nine months of 2023, surging by 22 percent to reach $625 million, compared to $512 million in the same period in 2022.
