Haldimand County firefighters are working to keep baby pigs cool in Monday’s heat after a tractor trailer carrying the pigs rolled into a ditch late morning, an OPP spokesperson said. Police responded to a crash on Concession 4 Walpole, east of Haldimand Road 55, after a tractor trailer full of baby pigs crashed. The tractor trailer lost control and landed on its side in a ditch, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a tweet. Temperatures in Haldimand County are expected to hit 30 C with a humidex of 33 C, according to Environment Canada. Mary Gagliardi with the OPP Haldimand County said firefighters were hosing down the piglets to keep them cool.
