Nehls was first elected to represent the district southwest of Houston in 2020, and was a staunch ally of Trump’s. The first Puerto Rican woman to serve in Congress, Velázquez has represented a heavily Democratic district that includes northeast Brooklyn and western Queens. He cited incivility in Congress and threats against his family in a story in the Bangor Daily News announcing his retirement. Moulton currently represents the northeastern corner of Massachusetts, and has drawn nominal opposition in his heavily Democratic district. In the years since, she’s been easily reelected in the heavily Democratic district.
