Among others, the Trabaho bill aims to lower the corporate income tax rate from 30 percent to 20 percent and rationalize fiscal incentives enjoyed by companies and other businesses. These are part of the benefits of leasing in a PEZA-accredited building, which has attracted the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, the main driver of the local office market. The Trabaho bill has been passed by the House of Representatives on third and final reading in December last year. The Tariff Commission is conducting a probe to determine the tariff’s impact on the market following complaints from industry players opposing the duty.
