Toyota NZ: We've ordered enough Camrys to see us through the Aussie closureSupplied A worker walks among cars at Toyota Australia's Altona vehicle assembly plant. At present New Zealand gets V6 Aurion, four cylinder Camry petrol and Camry hybrid cars that are built at Toyota Australia's Altona plant in Melbourne. But Toyota Australia has announced that it will end its Australian vehicle assembly in October. Toyota Australia president Dave Buttner said the company was committed to supporting employees throughout the transition period and beyond. Once the assembly ceases, Toyota Australia will become a national sales and distribution company, and all corporate functions will be transferred from Sydney to Melbourne in January 2018.
