By Sabela OjeaToyota Motor is recalling 1 million vehicles from several Toyota and Lexus models in the U.S., most of them hybrid vehicles, to inspect sensors related to the airbag system. The automaker on Wednesday said six Toyota models and five Lexis models from 2020 to 2022 are included in the recall. The vehicles' occupant classification system sensors located in the front passenger seat could cause a short circuit if they were manufactured improperly. "This would not allow the airbag system to properly classify the occupant's weight, and the airbag may not deploy as designed in certain crashes, increasing the risk of injury," the company said. Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the sensors and replace them for free if necessary.
