During the first quarter of fundraising this year, a small group of corporate PACs made contributions to lawmakers who voted against certifying the election results on January 6. © 2021 Bloomberg Finance LPIn the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, dozens of major corporations announced that they would reevaluate their political spending. Some, like Marriott International and AT&T, said that they would halt all contributions to the lawmakers who voted against certifying the presidential election results, while financial services firm Charles Schwab, went so far as to close down its corporate political action committee entirely. Others, however, continued donating to members of Congress who voted against certifying the 2020 election, according to a review of Federal Election Commission filings released this week. Toyota’s corporate PAC, for example, donated to at least 39 of the 147 lawmakers who voted against certifying the election results.
