A number of police could be seen parked next to northbound lanes of State Highway 20 near the Queenstown Rd off-ramp on Thursday morning. A person carrying a toy gun sparked an armed police callout and the closure of Auckland’s southwestern motorway. All northbound lanes of the motorway, near the Queenstown Rd off-ramp, were briefly closed at around 9am on Thursday morning, NZTA said. A police spokeswoman said a member of the public reported seeing a person with a gun at Clover Park, south Auckland, at around 8.40am. The motorway lanes were quickly cleared and congestion was easing in the area, NZTA said.
