A Fiordland tourism manager believes uncertainty about the future is having an effect on summer holiday bookings in the region. Visit Fiordland manager Stu Cordelle said Kiwis were hesitant to book early because of Covid-19 restrictions. “I think what’s happening at the moment is a shift to last minute travel bookings because of the pandemic situation. Stewart Island Backpackers owner Aaron Joy said summer holiday bookings were strong as usual, but this year more Southlanders were making reservations.
