PETALING JAYA: Tourism Malaysia has denied allegations of impropriety in a RM99mil deal with a local company to help promote the country in China. Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Dr Siew Ka Wei said the allegations made by its former chairman Wee Choo Keong (pic) in a blog post were "malicious and false". Dr Siew said that the Smart Tourism project was well thought out and added that it was initiated after a detailed three-month study by Deloitte Consulting. He said Tourism Malaysia had engaged stakeholders for six months with over 50 meetings, workshops and seminars held over the project. The former Tourism Malaysia chairman claimed that the deal with a local company to act as a go-between for Tourism Malaysia and a China-based company was inked in just one day.
