Race favorite Evenepoel, 20, lost control on a descent leading to the finish at Lake Como, hitting a bridge wall and plunging six meters into a ravine. Evenepoel had won stages this season in the Tour de San Juan, Tour of the Algarve, Tour de Burgos and the Tour of Poland. Fuglsang, 35, finished the 231-kilometer race from Bergamo to Como well clear of New Zealander George Bennett.
