Tour de France to close one of Copenhagen's busiest streets

HC Andersens Boulevard will be closed from June 30 until July 3 in 2021, while a series of events is held on Rådhuspladsen, the square outside Copenhagen City Hall. "It is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Our job is to make sure that it is both a good sporting event and one that the Copenhageners will be happy to have in the city." The event is expected to draw some half a million spectators and the City Authorities plan to spend 25m Danish kroner on the event. The first Grand Départ took place in Amsterdam in 1954, since when 55 towns and cities have hosted the event.
