Tory wants province to set COVID-19 recovery benchmarks before lifting more restrictions

Toronto Mayor John Tory is urging the Ontario government and health officials to set public benchmarks for COVID-19 improvement before further lifting of restrictions aimed at limiting the spread of the virus. Tory made the remarks Tuesday morning on CP24. The provincial government on the weekend allowed garden centres, hardware stores and safety supply stores to reopen, followed Monday by curbside service for street-facing retailers. Tory’s example of when people can safely hug relatives will remind some that Ford admitted Monday inviting two of his grown daughters, who don’t live with him, to his Etobicoke home on Mother’s Day. “The girls came over, there was six of us, direct family, none of the husbands, boyfriends, no one came, just themselves,” Ford told reporters.
