Torrential rain in the North Island, sunshine down southPETER MEECHAM / FAIRFAX NZ Bay of Plenty and Rotorua are being warned of torrential downpours on WednesdayThe North Island is bracing for heavy rain in parts while the South Island stays mainly dry. A low moving southeast across the North Island on Wednesday will bring heavy rain to parts, according to MetService. The lower South Island will also get plenty of sunshine with cloud coming over later in the day. There will be plenty of cloud about the upper South Island and possible spots of rain. It's a different story in the South Island, which will be mainly dry.
