More than two years after some residents of the Firgrove community were forced from their crumbling homes, city staff have put forward plans to rebuild the Toronto Community Housing site. The proposal also includes 107 new affordable housing units and 600 market rent or ownership units at the site off Jane St. south of Finch Ave. W.Council is being asked to approve the initial development proposal in principle. TCH is a corporation of the city and requires council approval to move ahead with the revitalization plan. TCH estimates the Firgrove revitalization could take seven to 10 years. TCH says it has done preliminary market analysis, working with city staff, tenants and others to develop an appropriate plan for redevelopment.
