Toronto taekwondo studio asks families to co-operate with police after instructor charged with sexually assaulting student

Shin Wook Lim, a four-time coach with Canada’s summer Olympic team and a coach at Black Belt World, was arrested Tuesday. Police say he sexually assaulted a teenage girl he was coaching over the course of two years. In a letter sent to its clients on Thursday, Black Belt World dojo, on Bloor St. W and Ossington Ave., said it will also be conducting its own investigation. His charges include six counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual exploitation, and one count each of invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference. “Black Belt World has monitored the facts as they have surfaced and has completely separated itself from Master Lim and he will no longer be associated, in any way, with Black Belt World Canada,” Chang wrote.
