Toronto police are investigating a daylight shooting that has left a man with serious injuries. Police tweeted just before 11 a.m. Thursday that the victim was found with gunshot wounds near Islington Avenue and Duncanwoods Drive, north of Finch Avenue West. Gun violence continues to be at record levels in Toronto. The rate of violence this year has so far exceeded the previous record — set in 2005, which was dubbed “the year of the gun” — even accounting for population growth. Despite the increase, nine fewer people have been killed by guns so far in 2019.
