Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined thousands from the Ukrainian community, and their supporters, in downtown Toronto on Friday night. Trudeau, Premier Doug Ford and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre each spoke to the cheering crowd at Nathan Phillips Square where the Solidarity March for Ukraine gathered after beginning at Yonge-Dundas Square. The global march, to mark the one-year anniversary of Ukraine’s resistance to Russia’s invasion, was held in an estimated 300 cities in 38 countries around the world. Earlier Friday, Trudeau announced more weapons for Ukraine on Friday as people rallied across Canada to mark 365 days of death and violence since Russia’s invasion began. Canada will donate four additional battle tanks to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, growing Canada’s contribution to eight tanks in total, Trudeau said.
