A Toronto man charged with performing weddings without authority was released on bail Wednesday after a brief court appearance. Police allege Paul Cogan, 69, performed wedding ceremonies illegally in Ontario from August 2013 to July 2016. Evidence presented in court is under a publication ban. Wearing a burgundy dress shirt and brown pants, Cogan stood silently in the prisoner’s box before he was ordered released. His website, PridefulWeddings.com, describes “Paul” as an Ontario licensed Wedding Officiant, who has performed more than 2000 wedding ceremonies across Ontario, “serving people of all faiths and cultures.”
