Brett Ryan, the accused crossbow killer, appeared briefly by video in a Scarborough courtroom Friday, where his case was put over until Sept. 23. The 35-year-old stood against a wall in an orange jumpsuit, and calmly stated his name when asked by the Crown lawyer. After being told if his next hearing date, Ryan thanked the court and then walked off camera. Ryan is accused of killing his mother and two of his brothers in a bloody crossbow attack. He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the attack that stunned a tranquil east-end Toronto neighbourhood last week.
