A man who fell three floors down an elevator shaft escaped with non life-threatening injuries after emergency crews rescued him Thursday morning, firefighters say. Police responded to a call at 10:30 a.m. to an apartment building at 248 Simcoe St., near Dundas St., Const. Toronto police are at a downtown building where a person in a wheelchair fell about three floors down an elevator shaft Thursday morning. ( Rene Johnston / Toronto Star file photo )A Toronto Fire spokesperson said when emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found a person at the bottom of the elevator shaft with what appeared to be a scooter on top of him, they said. Firefighters entered the shaft using ropes and after assessing his condition, they brought him to the main floor level.
