A Toronto-based non-profit organization is heading to Houston to save rescue dogs in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. “And there are more dogs than there are rescuers.”She said the volunteers will only be taking already displaced dogs and rescue dogs, and they will not be taking any pets from owners that were left behind or displaced. Tim Alamenciak, formerly a Toronto Star reporter, is one of the two volunteers heading to Houston. When the dogs arrive in Toronto they will be taken in by rescue shelters in the GTA. The money will go towards getting the volunteers to Houston as well as vet costs to give the dogs rabies vaccinations.
