Canada’s largest stock market is down this morning in a broad-based decline that’s been partly offset by higher energy stocks. The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index dipped 10.59 points to 15,201.28, after 90 minutes of trading. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average climbed 63.78 points to 22,011.88, the S&P 500 index gained 6.25 points to 2,477.90, and the Nasdaq composite index was up 5.96 points to 6,434.62. The Canadian dollar was trading at 80.75 cents U.S., up from Thursday’s average price of 79.77 cents U.S. In commodities, the October crude contract was down nine cents to $47.14 (U.S.) per barrel and the October natural gas contract increased four cents to $3.08 per mmBTU.
