Speaking to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun on Wednesday, Lamoriello echoed the sentiment of many around town and the organization that the incubating Leafs have more pressing issues than naming a full-time captain for the 2017-18 season. “I would not be surprised if we did not have a captain next year,” Lamoriello said. Lamoriello said nothing will be done to address the backup goaltending situation until July 1 when 34-year-old Curtis McElhinney becomes a free agent. “We’ll certainly fill that position,” he said, “whether it’s Curtis or whoever we feel is the right person.”
