The Toronto Blue Jays have named Paul Beeston, the team’s former president and chief executive officer, as president emeritus in honour of his contributions to the team. “Paul’s achievements and dedication to the both the Blue Jays and MLB is incomparable. This is simply a small token of recognition for the nearly four decades he’s given the game,” said Mark Shapiro, the current president and chief executive officer of the Blue Jays in a release. He retired for the first time after a five-year run in the MLB’s commissioner’s office in 2002. Beeston returned to the Blue Jays in 2008.
