Acting coach of the national table tennis team, Segun Toriola, has rued Aruna Quadri’s withdrawal from the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships after the country failed to make it to the knockout stage of the tournament, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. The country’s top-ranked table tennis player through his Facebook page announced his withdrawal from the ongoing championship in Busan, South Korea. Toriola has, however, attributed the team’s early exit to the absence of their talisman Aruna. “We need to start exposing our young players to competitions of this magnitude so that they can learn from the likes of Aruna and Olajide Omotayo. We need to watch out for this kind of player and we must continue to support our young players in their quest to compete favourably with their foreign counterparts.”
