With the rhetoric being ramped up on both sides, the Scottish Conservative leader warned the first minister yesterday that she would “pay a heavy price” at the polling stations if she went against public opinion and called a fresh plebiscite on Scotland’s future. Ms Davidson was reacting to a new poll which suggested that opposition to a second independence referendum is growing in Scotland.
