BOGURA, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh army on Wednesday arrested top-listed terrorist Atiq Hasan, 30, along with foreign made firearms, live ammunition and domestic weapons during a raid in Bogura's Shajahanpur upazila. According to the army, the recovered weapons and ammunition had been stockpiled with the intention of carrying out subversive activities in the area ahead of the upcoming national elections. The arrested Atiq is an active member of the criminal group known as "Nuru Bahini," led by Nuruzzaman alias Nuru, the fugitive general secretary of the Shajahanpur Upazila Swechchhasebak League. Army officials said Atiq attempted to flee by climbing onto the roof of his house after sensing the presence of the security forces. Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) Al Amin said that there are a total of five cases against Atiq, including a weapons case, an attempt to murder case and a case filed in the July-August mass uprising.
