McVean stepped down as Jumping New Zealand's high-performance manager after tour by a senior Kiwi team in April. He agreed to the ban from any official New Zealand high-performance role if the unspecified complaints against him were dropped. In a statement, Laurie apologised and acknowledged her conduct during the tour fell below the standards expected of a senior team member. Laurie, who relocated to Australia earlier this year, became New Zealand's youngest Olympic showjumping equestrian at age 22 when she competed at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
