Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde sacked Senior Superintendent Jeremias Aglugub, Nueva Vizcaya provincial director; and Chief Inspector Geovanni Cejes, chief of police of Aritao Municipal Police Station. Senior Superintendent Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said Aglugub and Cejes were removed from their posts for “apparent lapses” in the investigation of Malayao’s death. Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino, regional director of Cagayan Police Regional Office (PRO-2), has yet to designate the replacements of Aglugub and Cejes as of this writing. Malayao, 49, was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman while sleeping inside an Isabela-bound bus in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya last Wednesday.
