Tom Cruise returns to his iconic role as pilot Captain Peter "Maverick" Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to the hit 1986 film Top Gun. However, the exciting new footage does carry some similarities to recent trailers for the sequel trilogy of Star Wars films. In fact, the trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker look rather similar. The Top Gun trailer also included such intense close-ups of hands on the controls of the aircraft that we had major Kylo Ren vibes too. Top Gun: Maverick is released in UK cinemas on June 26, 2020.
