Toothpick crossbows, the latest toy craze sweeping China, are illegal in New Zealand the Commerce Commission said. The toys were subsequently allowed back on the website but the Commerce Commission today poured cold water on the product. "Pistol crossbows without safety catches on the firing mechanism were declared unsafe goods under the Fair Trading Act in October 1989," the Commission said. "Anyone currently selling the crossbows in New Zealand should immediately remove them from sale," it said. "I started selling them the day after the Herald reported the craze," he said.
