Mirvish Productions has landed a major theatrical coup, bringing the first international production of Broadway hit Dear Evan Hansen to Toronto. The musical, which won six Tony Awards last year, including Best Musical and Best Score, will premiere at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in March 2019. Telling the story of a socially anxious high school student and a lie involving a dead classmate, Dear Evan Hansen was written by renowned composing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Golden Globe and Oscar winners for the song “City of Stars” from La La Land. So it just felt like a very organic first move for us (as we) step gingerly into other countries.” Mirvish said he was delighted to be entrusted with the show’s first international production.
