Penalties are taking over the game of football and I’m worried. There are so many being awarded these days and I think the laws have to be looked at closely before it’s too late. I don’t just say this after another contentious penalty, awarded with the help of VAR, helped Manchester United get through against Paris Saint-Germain. We saw lots of penalties awarded in the World Cup last summer and lots of debate over VAR and how it was used.
