In an interesting piece of casting news from Sony Pictures, Deadline reveals that fresh-faced Spider-Man star Tom Holland is playing Nathan Drake in the adaptation of video game franchise Uncharted. Kind of like an origin story to the video games, although it’s unclear whether or not the new franchise is to be considered canon. Regardless, it means that Tom Holland is now the face of two of Sony's major franchises, and is going to build both simultaneously. It’s notoriously difficult to adapt a video game into a successful cinema franchise, and practically impossible to create a good story from the tangled pieces of video game plotlines. In building a prequel to the games, Sony is taking an interesting approach.
