British Olympic star Tom Daley has spoken out against Russian state TV after it made a number of homophobic attacks during the Olympics. MP Alexei Zhuravlyov also pointed at a screen showing New Zealand trans athlete Laurel Hubbard, referring to her participation as 'smut and perversion.' As well as mockingly wearing a wig, the host Anatoly Kuzichev branded trans people 'psychopaths' and said they needed psychiatric treatment. New Zealander Laurel Hubbard made history this week as the first trans athlete to compete in a solo event at the GamesTom Daley competing at Tokyo. Tom Daley said there is still a 'long way to go' for LGBT rights, pointing out that in 10 countries who competed this year homosexuality is still punishable by death.
