The sequel to actor Tom Cruises 1986 action drama film Top Gun has been slated for a release on July 12, 2019. The sequel will release almost 33 years after the release of the original film, reports variety.com. Filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, who earlier directed Tom in the 2013 film Oblivion, has been roped in to helm Top Gun: Maverick. Tom earlier said that the title for the second film would be Top Gun: Maverick although Paramount Studios listed the title on Friday only as Top Gun. Top Gun is the film which turned Tom Cruise into a superstar.
