The owner of a Taichung restaurant hit by a gas leak explosion died from his injuries on Friday, taking the toll to three dead since July 18. He was pronounced dead at 1 p.m.Wu was hailed as a hero for staying at the explosion site despite his serious injuries to help others flee. On July 18, a spark from an electric fan ignited gas that had leaked from mishandled liquefied natural gas cylinders in the basement of the restaurant. The blast killed 19-year-old Cheng Guan-ling (陳冠伶), who rented the apartment above the restaurant. Forty-year-old Chang Yan-chuan (張晏銓), the owner of the gas supplier, was also severely burned and died on Wednesday.
