Owaka's new toilets feature ceramic tiles designed and painted by Catlins Area School pupils. There was to be no ''potty humour'' at the official opening of Owaka's recently installed public toilets, which feature tiles painted by local school pupils. What made the toilet block unique was the use of ceramic tiles painted and designed by pupils from Catlins Area School. Catlins Area School head pupil Aimee Pullar (17) cut the ribbon with the youngest pupil, Austin Morrison (6), shortly after noon, to much applause. Clutha District Mayor Bryan Cadogan also spoke at the opening ceremony and joked ''only in Owaka'' would there be such a turnout for the opening of a toilet block.
